Feeling the leg brush against his own Logan opened his eyes to look down at the dog, grateful it was at least acting properly doggish now he rubbed the creatures belly firmly "Good dog" in all honesty it was quite strange to be sitting and not hearing the constant exploding of shells. However the faces continued to haunt him, stealing away the slight smile, retracting his hand he let his eyes wander taking in his surroundings carefully ever keeping an eye out for something to hunt. The mans dog tags caught the light and twinkled in the midday sun, the various medals he'd been awarded were not on his chest proudly instead they were in a pocket on the inside of his jacket secured away. He wasn't proud of what he'd done in the various battles and trenches, wasn't proud of the kills, of the sacrifices, of the people he'd lost.

Luna yipped softly as the man rubbed her exposed tummy and her tail brushed over the grass swiftly as it wagged. Her blue eyes started to close with pleasure when he suddenly stopped and she whined softly looking up at him. Spotting the glinting metal she sat on her hunches and nudged them with her nose softly as she sniffed it. She had never seen such things before and her keen eyesight could make out something was written upon them.

[center]A hand idly stroked the dogs head, the dog tags had his name and age one side, and on the other the year his tags were issued and his regiment. On the same tag as the dog tags was a silver ring, it was adorned with a sapphire and either side of the blue stone a small diamond. He'd saved and scrimped in order to afford it, the ring and the old scarf were the only things he had left of his beloved. Thoughts far away, to a time when things had been simpler, Logans hand idly continued to stroke the head of the dog, it took several minutes before he was back to his normal self. Finding himself listening for the whistles, and the sounds of shells exploding, the peaceful silence was peculiar, he needed to get up and keep walking, however it was hard to force his tired sore body forward. Sleep wanted to pull at him, however it was pushed back, he would not sleep, he couldn't sleep. It wasn't worth the nightmares, the memories, hauling himself up onto his feet, logan rubbed at his face feeling the stubble pricking his hands

Luna pressed her nose to his chin as her head lifted into his hand as he stroked her head. The sadness rolled off the man as she lifted her paw to lay it over his leg lightly, trying to offer some comfort while in her dog form. The german shepard female rubbed against his leg as he forced himself up and she kept her gaze on him steadily until movement caught her attention. A young fawn stepped up to the river with its mother not far behind and she dropped into a crouch with a soft growl. A young fawn often fetched a good price in town for both its soft pelt and tender meat. She took a few slow steps forward through the long grass, keeping her ears pricked and eyes on the prize.

At the dogs growl his gun was lifted up without even thinking about it, seeing the fawn and recognizing its potential for decent food for a while he aimed and fired the loud shot ringing out as the bullet found its mark in the animals side causing it to squeal and drop in agony. Firing again he finished any ability for the animal to get away and as he got closer he slipped the point of the bayonet between its ribs into its lungs and hopefully heart. Watching it die he was taken back to a memory of where he'd done the same to an enemy soldier, pain washed over him, remembering the begs and pleads of mercy that he had been under orders to ignore. His mind that had been silent now awoke again tormenting him with the barrage of thoughts, reminding him of just how pathetic and terrible he was, he was a murderer, he'd killed so many people, he'd lost so many allies. Cleaning the blood off the bayonets blade, his features were stony cold and distant, not revealing just how tortured he was on the inside.

Luna jumped at the sudden and loud bang that cause the fawn to drop. She head snapped up and she jumped again when the second bang happened, coming from the mans metal thing. She ran after him to the young deer and watched as he stabbed it through its chest. She sighed and shook her head minutely at the destruction of the hide but it would still be good for smaller things. When she went to move the carcass however she quickly found out it was stuck on something and all she ended up doing was snapping the dead animals neck. With a huff she turned to the man and spotted his cold expression. The German Shepard shifter moved to sit by his side and slowly lifted a paw to his hand.
